Ryan Jung, piano recital

Ryan Jung is a multi-disciplinary artist currently based in New York City, performing repertoire from the unique perspective of improvisation and classical music. As a composer, he is especially dedicated to new music, and has collaborated with renowned composers. His most recent work, breathe in/bleed out was premiered this past April by TAK Ensemble and broadcasted on PBS. 2024-25 Season highlights include an engagement with the New York Philharmonic performing Boulez’s “Sur Incises”, bringing Poulenc’s La voix humane to Boston with soprano Melissa Wimbish and returning as a performing artist at the YellowBarn Festival.

Ryan was a recent candidate of the 2024 Orleans Competition and Geza Anda Competition, and the 3rd Prize winner of the 2022 Wadsworth International Piano Competition. As an avid cinema enthusiast,  he was the recipient of the Baisley Elebash Grant in 2024 for a film/recording project of his own music set to release in 2025. He made his Lincoln Center debut in Alice Tully Hall in 2021 and has since performed at the Lucerne Festival (CH), Schiermoonikoog Festival (NL), IMS Prussia Cove (UK), the Yellow Barn Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the Aspen Music Festival among others.

Ryan completed his MM at the Juilliard School and received his BM from the New England Conservatory and studied jazz with Henrique Eisenmann. He is currently pursuing his doctorate at the CUNY Graduate Center and holds a staff position at Juilliard.
