LAMP and its partners are committed to sharing the outstanding musical talent and incredible works studied here through a strong community engagement program offered to children, adults, and seniors in our community.

Community Outreach Programs

For every week our guest faculty and student musicians spend at LAMP, they agree to give at least two hours to our community engagement programs. These may include focused classroom workshops or 500-student assemblies at South Shore schools; our popular preschool program, attended by groups from the Lunenburg Day Care Centre and the South Shore Regional Centre for Education’s Pre-Primary classes, as well as children accompanied by a parent or grandparent; and concerts at care facilities throughout Lunenburg County, Queens County and HRM. These live performances are provided at no cost to the schools and care facilities. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience live music regardless of age, financial stability, gender, race, religion, physical & mental abilities, or any other barrier which might prevent music from being a part of their life.

Tunes on Tuesday

In 2024, at the request of pianist Ian Tomaz, LAMP began a new free concert series called Tunes on Tuesday. Concurrent with each concert series, we offered free performances by artists at LAMP every Tuesday at noon. These are casual events which will last 30-45 minutes, and are open to people of all ages. This series is on a temporary pause.

A Little Light Music

We also offer the public series, A Little Light Music. These free one-hour presentations feature visiting artists who talk about their careers and artistic inspirations interspersed with performance. Audience members with burning questions will have an opportunity to ask them of the performers. It's a great opportunity to learn more about great music and about the artists appearing here at LAMP. Check our concert listings for upcoming events.
