Enriching Our Community Through Music
LAMP and its partners are committed to making world-class music accessible to all. Through community engagement programs, we proudly share exceptional talent and inspirational performances with diverse audiences across our region.
For every week our guest faculty and emerging musicians spend at LAMP, they agree to give at least two hours to our community engagement programs. These may include focused classroom workshops or student assemblies at South Shore schools and daycare centres, as well as in health & wellness facilities across our region and beyond. These live performances are provided at no cost to the schools and care facilities.
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience live music regardless of age, financial stability, gender, race, religion, physical & mental abilities, or any other barrier which might prevent music from being a part of their life.
School Outreach
Interested in having music at your school? Contact admin@lampns.ca to find out how you can have our musicians in your music room or auditorium for free! Some offerings are suitable for a school-wide assembly, while others are best delivered in single class-sized groups or as part of after-school programs. If you’re looking for a class trip, why not consider coming to LAMP for a free concert in our concert hall? With seating for up to 135 people, we can host several classes at once! We can even provide a “master class” for small groups of students with a special interest in a particular instrument or composer.
Music & Health
Many of us have felt the healing impacts of music, but unfortunately, not everyone can come to our concert hall to hear live music. That’s why we feel strongly about going out into the community and sharing our music within senior centres, adult day centres, hospitals, shelters, and more. Contact admin@lampns.ca should you want to be added to our list of health and wellness spaces. We are able to travel beyond the South Shore region for these offerings.
In Our Concert Hall
Beyond our ticketed season offerings, we also share numerous free events within our concert hall in the Lunenburg Academy. These presentations include:
A Little Light Music. These one-hour presentations feature visiting artists who talk about their careers and artistic inspirations interspersed with performance. These concerts are held on Wednesday nights at 7pm.
Tunes on Tuesday. These 30-45 minute presentations feature visiting artists in a lecture-recital. It’s a perfect way to break up your day with a noon-hour performance.
Adaptive Concerts. These 45 minute concerts are for individuals who feel inhibited within “traditional” concert settings. Everyone is welcome to these concerts, with specific adaptations for those who may need them.
Open Masterclasses & Rehearsals. These sessions usually occur while our artists are participating in an Academy with visiting faculty. Come behind the scenes and see the performers master their craft.
