Julia-Hyunji Lee, Cello

Praised by La Jolla Light for her “musical integrity” and “warmth,” Korean-American cellist Julia-Hyunji Lee is recognized for her commitment to meaningful, authentic connection through music. A prizewinner at the Antonio Janigro International Cello Competition and finalist in the Naumburg International Cello Competition, she has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Ocala Symphony and University of Florida Chamber Orchestra.

An active chamber musician, she has collaborated with leading artists and performed at major festivals such as the Perlman Music Program and Aspen Music Festival. She recently made her Alice Tully Hall debut and appears regularly in recital and outreach settings, including with Project: Music Heals Us.

Julia has served as principal cellist of The Juilliard Orchestra and worked with conductors including Marin Alsop and Gustavo Dudamel. Deeply engaged in community work, she leads educational and outreach initiatives and co-founded a high school string program in her hometown.
