Solo Residency Concert: Lindsay McIntyre, Soprano
Lindsay McIntyre is a Canadian vocal artist whose work lies at the intersection of technical precision and the magic of mindful experience. Awed by the natural world, Lindsay believes music making is a form of transfiguration: creating moments out of thin air. A scholar of the voice, body, and meditative practices, She is particularly passionate about using her instrument as a vessel for contemporary music.
Soprano Lindsay McIntyre presents an exploration of the raw human voice through this program of unaccompanied vocal repertoire. Although voice is an extremely common instrument, it is seldom heard alone in concert settings. This interwoven set of pieces will feature works by R. Murray Schafer, Luciano Berio, Rebecca Saunders, and newly composed transitions by the singer, and will highlight many of the beautiful, funny, disconcerting, and poignant sounds a voice can make.
