Sailing Around the World with a Piano on Board, PianOcean celebrates

10 years of music at sea with a summer tour of Nova Scotia!

This summer, the internationally acclaimed PianOcean project arrives in Nova Scotia as part of its ongoing round-the-world sailing voyage, celebrating ten years of music, adventure, and cultural exchange across the world's oceans. This unique sailing-and-music project will bring floating piano concerts first to Lunenburg, then to Halifax, St. Peters, and Baddeck.

PianOcean is the extraordinary journey of pianist and navigator Marieke Huysmans, who has spent the past decade sailing from country to country aboard her sailboat, carrying a piano on deck. Along the way, she has composed original music inspired by ocean crossings, distant shores, encounters with local communities, and life under sail.

On July 11 and 12, LAMP and PianOcean are collaborating to bring audiences in Lunenburg the opportunity to experience these unique concerts performed directly from the sailboat. For each performance, the piano is hoisted from the aft cabin to the deck by a custom-built system that transforms the deck into a stage.
