Ellita Gagner, mezzo-soprano

Canadian mezzo-soprano Ellita Gagner, currently based in Montreal, has been praised for her “gorgeous, warm tone and winning gamine personality.” She has performed leading and supporting roles across Canada with companies and ensembles including Opéra de Montréal, Opera Nova Scotia, the Brott Festival, Maritime Concert Opera, and Chorus Niagara.

A dedicated performer of contemporary music, Ellita has worked with both established and emerging composers and librettists, most recently workshopping and presenting scenes from Opéra Magnolia’s Opera Creation Forum. Her operatic repertoire includes Cendrillon, L’Enfant, Tetka, Dido, Lysistrata, Hansel, Dorabella, and Iphigenia.

Ellita has been a young artist with Brott Opera, Toronto Summer Music, the Castleton Festival, Equilibrium Young Artists with Barbara Hannigan, Manitoba Opera, and the Rebanks Fellow program at The Glenn Gould School. She is a graduate of the Opera School at the University of Toronto and the Don Wright Faculty at the University of Western.
